You are an expert in ranged combat, and can make accurate shots from any distance. You gain the following benefits:
- You can attack at long range without disadvantage on your ranged weapon attack rolls.
- Your ranged weapon attacks ignore all cover except full cover.
- While you are prone, you are not disadvantages on your ranged attack rolls.
Sharpshooter is not a bad feat. Actually, it’s very good. It’s too good. This feat is designed as part of an effort to remove the -5/+10 mechanic from feats. The damage gained from these feats represent a huge amount of single target burst damage, making them a requirement to get as quickly as possible.
This modified version makes the archer feel more like a sniper, by allowing them to fall prone to make ranged attack rolls, much like a sniper would. This makes them deadly when they’re left alone and hard to hit with ranged attacks, but doesn’t provide a huge damage increase.
